Cairo with Memphis tours
betty boppy, 12/29/13
This is the first of three reviews for this tour organisation. From being picked up at Cairo international airport to being dropped off there to return home - I cannot speak highly enough of their reps, guides and drivers. The advice I had before arriving was accurate and complete (thanks Abdo). I was assured of a safe and hassle-free experience and I had just that. I was wonderful. My guide Nesreer (spelling?) was an insightful and empathetic woman. From her I learnt not only about her home town but the life of a modern Egyptian woman. The time we spent together was more than that of a guide. She was able to help me obtain good internet mobile access, great shops and she went beyond her role. My Cairo driver Mohamed Elaskdri was excellent, friendly and prompt. I cannot emphasise how much Memphis tours and their employees helped make this an exciting and wonderful adventure! Ignore the publicity Cairo and Egypt await you!

Great experience with the planning of our trip
Nicole, 2/20/12
Despite the turmoil going on in Egypt, we decided to go anyway - the country can probably use all the tourists that can get right now! We first began working with Mohamed and then Mawra Samir. Both have been so helpful and accommodating - we gave them a list of places we wanted to see, even some hard to get to spots like Dendera, and they were able to design an amazing tour of Egypt and Jordan for us that was very reasonably priced. We will be traveling at the end of June 2012 and I'm confident that if the service we have received so far from Mephis Tours is any indication, our trip will be incredible!

unmistakable vacation
myoeminn, 2/19/12
We have been reluctant to go to Egypt & Jordan in 2011 but finally we could not wait anymore and made it happen with Memphis tour since all USA tours keep cancelling for security reasons. We are really glad we made it finally. It was amazing trip to witness first civilized area of human beings. Cairo and all tourist attraction areas are safe and secure. Our first credit goes to Manager Mr Mohammed Fayez, who arranged everything in detail as American way and made them happen without a glitch. Although I never met him in person, my appreciations for him is enormous. Memphis tour guides from Cairo, Mohammed Baseer, and Ahmed Hussein from Sham-El Sheikh, are very good and punctual. Local guide Ms Maha was perfect and friendly Driver Ahmed is unforgettable. Raed from Amman is good too.
Other than experiencing and witnessing fantastic & unbelievable monuments and structures of Great Egypt, and friendly Jordan, we are very happy to meet a lot of new people from different world and became friends.
Whoever thinking of visiting Middle East, Memphis tour should be the first place to check with since it can find right length of stay, reasonable cost and fulfill all you need. I could now recommend to all my friends and colleagues to visit Egypt, Jordan and Israel with Memphis tour and not to worry about anything else.

It was absolutly brilliant; a holiday of a lifetime - I would recommend this company to anyone
Lester Bath, 2/6/12
My daughter and I visited both Egypt and Jordan, and Memphis Tours amended the trip to take in sites she particularly wanted to visit. Any company can score well when everything goes all right but Memphis were brilliant when things went wrong on a couple of oocasions; finding a room for me for an afternoon when I was not well (free of charge) and upgrading us at no cost when we were unhappy with one hotel. Both the tour reps and the guides were excellent. Both of us agree we would certainly use them again and I have already recommeded them to a couple of people who are thinking of holidaying in Egypt.

“Memphis Tours were first class - don't go anywhere else”
paulineC16, 2/8/10
Memphis Tours really looked after us well. Our schedule was frenetic (our choice to do it all on 1 trip) Jan 9th - 20th 2010 - Flew to Cairo for 2 days, flew to Luxor to pick up a Nile cruise. Flew back from Aswan to Cairo for a day then flew to Amman in Jordan. Did all the sites - Petra, Mt Nebo, Bethany ect. It was a terrific experience. All pick up appointments were on time. The drivers and tour guides were polite, helpful and informative. Anything we asked for was accommodated. The guides Mahdie and Haman (forgive the spelling - probably wrong) were friendly, but kept a respectful distance; being all women we appreciated that.

The first representative that met us at the airport, Zezu, was a fantastic ambassador for the company. He was tremendously helpful and thoughtful. We were confident that he was only a phone call away if we needed his assistance. A cell phone was provided so we could contact the company if we needed them. Another meet-and-greet rep, Sherif, was terrific too.

On our last day in Egypt, we actually felt sad to say goodbye to Zezu; he even carried our bags into the terminal and helped us check-in. Memphis was outstanding and we felt safe being looked after by all the team.

When we arrived at Jordan, all organised by Memphis, the level of care delivered by Petra Night Tours was just as impressive. A driver named Sherif looked after us for the first 2 days then the regular driver, Hallah, took over and continued to deliver a first class service. The tour guides booked by the company were informative and we felt we learned a lot about the country.

In both countries, the hotels were of a good standard with great service. The food was delicious and nutritious. Absolutely no complaints there.

The only aspect of Memphis' organisation of our trip that we disliked was the taking of us to watch things being made like glass blowing, carpets, jewellery, vases, perfume ect. After a brief demonstration we were offered drinks and felt obligated to buy. Although they said there was no obligation, we were put under some pressure by the sales assistants to purchase. We all disliked that aspect of the tour. By the time we reached Jordan, we had decided not to go to places like this if they were on the tour itinerary.

There was some negative aspects to our holiday that had nothing to do with Memphis Tours. We were hasseled in Egypt and greatly over charged everywhere we went. Even on the cruise I was charged 600 egp for 2 gallibayas; I seen the same dresses later on the stalls for 50 each. We expect to pay more than the locals, but to be fleeced to the extent we were was unacceptable. (Things weren't that bad in Jordan.) Our guide from Memphis spoke to the store owner to complain and he offered to compensate me with a key ring - which I refused. Haman suggested that we call him to be with us if we were going to buy things

The so called 'security' at historical sites were pestering tourist for money so they could take pictures of places where photography was forbidden.

Despite the above, we had a memorable holiday and would be more than happy to recommend Memphis as a company that does deliver a great service.
