Thanks Memphis
Stefani, 12/23/22

I recommend this trip to anyone who wants to kill two birds with one stone and travel to two countries at once. At first, I was going to go on my own with my cousin but we found that it would be such a hassle. A friend of mine traveled to Egypt with Memphis Tours and recommended the company to us. It was a great decision to go on a guided trip so we can learn everything about the amazing historical places. My cousin really enjoyed Jordan, Wadi Rum was his favorite part of the trip, while mine was Luxor and its temples and sailing down the Nile.

Huge Thanks
Sarah, 10/28/22

I was a female traveling alone. At first, I was a little bit concerned about traveling on my own, to be honest, but Memphis tours made it really safe and easy for me. All I had to do was to confirm with them by arrival dates and they took care of everything else. I enjoyed myself so much and I really liked the Egyptian and Jordanian food.

Great tour
paul sydney, 7/10/13
We have just returned from a 2 week tour of Egypt and Jordan organised by Memphis Tours. What a great time we had!! We were some what apprehensive regarding the political upheaval (we arrived on the night of June 30) but at all times we felt very safe and looked after. All guides and drivers, both Egyptian and Jordanian were very good. Memphis looked after all our bookings - including a Nile Cruise on the Sonesta Moon Godess, and at all times were very efficient and professional. We had a problem flying into Cairo on June 30 (our flights were cancelled) - a quick call to Memphis tours and they were on to the job helping to solve our problem!! I was particularly impressed with their punctuality- all the representatives, drivers and guides. I will use them next time I return to Egypt

“Excellent! Best tour company I have ever traveled with!”
Kristen1313, 5/25/13

Traveling with Memphis tours was one of the best, stress-free travel experiences I have ever had. It was well organised and everyone we dealt with was so friendly and helpful. We were picked up right at the airport by Tarek and Ahmed, who filled us in on the details of our tour, and even taught us a little Arabic on the was to the hotel! Beautiful hotels and rooms throughout the entire tour, hotel rooms were very clean. The food was great. The historic sights were unbelievable! Our guides were fantastic! In Cairo we had a wonderful guide named Hend, she was so informative, friendly and answered every question we could think to ask. Everyone we spoke to at this tour company went above and beyond what was expected to make sure our trip was wonderful, from our drivers to the customer care manager(a gentleman named Gamal). This tour company went way beyond what I expected and I could not be happier with the entire experience. If you're planning a trip to Egypt or Jordan I would recommend this tour company in a heartbeat, they will take good care of you and make your trip incredibly memorable! I can't wait to go back and now is a great time to go; I felt very safe the entire time and there aren't huge crowds of tourists so you can really enjoy the historical sites without throngs of people everywhere.

Excellent service, professional, great communication
Lark Skates, 4/5/13
We booked several tours with Memphis Tours for 3 stops on our cruise. One of which was this excellent tour of Cairo. We met up with Memphis again in Jordan where we toured Petra, then again at Safaga, Egypt, where we were taken inland to tour Luxor and the Valley of the Kings. I would highly recommend this method of touring.

We were on our first cruise, and I booked this private tour with Memphis before I understood how I could see these places with the ship's tour groups. I am SO glad I did. We were whisked away from the ship in a private car, while the tour busses were still waiting to park and pick up the huge groups. We had an English speaking guide, Nema and a driver with limited english. We left the sights sometimes before the tour busses even arrived. Nema provided great details and insights into the sights we visited. If we wanted more information, we asked, if we became a little overwhelmed, she seemed to understand and would back off on the information. She was extremely engaging and knowledgeable. She took us to the pyramids where she tied my scarf in a traditional headscarf manor, we went to the Egyptian Museum when the cruise tour groups had to skip it due to a protest, and she and the driver stopped on the way back to the ship to be sure we had a chance to try their favorite street food from a vendor.

The Memphis tour group experience was incredibly satisfying. We were seldom bothered by vendors or camel drivers because we were with a guide. We learned as much as we wanted because we directed the information we received through questions that were expertly answered. We had twice as much time at sites and venues than the tour groups. We were much more nimble and could stop at places/shops/sites that caught our fancy rather than sticking to a big group schedule. When we were taken to shops 'suggested' by our Egyptian guide, we went in to have a look, but learned to leave quickly if we didn't want anything. We booked several months in advance, and the customer service team at Memphis was very polite and suffered my many emailed questions.

The biggest surprise was that we paid less than the people who bought the group tour package onboard the ship!!!

Fantastic 18 day private tour
mighty meg, 1/7/13
We travelled to Egypt in November 2012 for 18 days. I did a lot of reading and research on Tripadvisor prior to booking our trip. We wanted to travel in a small group and decided on a private tour for four of us (two couples) with Memphis Tours.

I started planning our trip in December 2011 and worked with Abdo Shawky to come up with a personalised itinerary for our 18 day trip. We told Abdo what sights and places we wanted to visit, how long we wanted to stay and he put together our itinerary from this info. Abdo was excellent in coordinating our trip and all the changes we made right up until the week before we departed. He provided us with a detailed itinerary that showed what we were doing each day and length of tours etc. Abdo also upgraded our Cairo accommodation to the Mena House which was a fantastic surprise and while we were travelling around Egypt, he contacted us to inform us that he had changed our internal flights with better timed flights. Memphis supplied us with a mobile phone during our stay and Abdo rang to see how our trip was going while we were travelling around.

We had a fantastic holiday in Egypt and there were so many “WOW” moments. Everything went as planned, thanks to Abdo. Our accommodation was great, the Mena House was fantastic! You can’t beat the view of the pyramids from your hotel room! All our transfers and internal flights went without a hitch and we were always picked up on time each day. We felt safe throughout our entire trip and in all the cities we visited.

Around Cairo, St Catherine and Alexandria our tour guide was Hesham Aref and our driver was Osama. We had a great time with Hesham and Osama and we would definitely recommend them to everyone. We actually requested to have them as our guide and driver on our trip to Alexandria and tours around Cairo after having spent time with them travelling to St Catherine at the beginning of our trip. Hesham was informative and knowledgeable throughout our sightseeing. At each sight he explained all the history and then gave us plenty of free time to take photos and have a good look around. He helped us with haggling for the things we wanted to buy and also told us what we should pay for these things. Hesham was very easy going and friendly and by the end of our trip we felt like Hesham and Osama were part of our family, they made our tour a relaxed and fun time. We had a lot of laughs with both of them.

Osama was our favourite driver, the driving in Egypt is crazy compared to driving in NZ but Osama was a great driver and we felt confident with him. He was always on time to pick us up. He entertained us with his music, teaching us his dance moves/actions to his Arabic songs. Osama was really friendly and a real fun guy to spend time with.

We went to visit the Commonwealth War Cemetery at El Alamein to visit our grandfather’s grave and Hesham & Osama were understanding about what the visit meant to us and in giving us as much time as we wanted at the Cemetery, which we really appreciated. Osama also helped me to locate the grave site.

We had lunch included most days of our tour and all of the restaurants/eating places were very good. We especially liked the places where we ate koftas, falafels and freshly baked bread.

Our 5 day Nile cruise was on the Alyssa. There were only about 20 – 30 people on the boat, with the majority of them being German. We shared a tour guide on the cruise with another English couple so there were only 6 of us in our group. Our tour guide on the cruise was Ahmed El-Prince, and he was also a really great guide. He would also explain the history at the sights and then give us plenty of photo and free time as well as doing our haggling for any purchases we wanted to make. The Alyssa cruise was great, plenty of sightseeing and plenty of relaxation time. The food was great and the staff very friendly.

Overall we had a fantastic holiday in Egypt, the sights were amazing. I think I took over 3,000 photos! We saw everything we wanted to see, went to all the sights we wanted to visit and everything went to schedule and as planned. All our tour guides were great; they were all extremely informative and knowledgeable. We travelled from Cairo to Mt Sinai, back to Cairo with a day trip to Sakkara, Memphis and Dahshur. We flew to Luxor and visited the Valley of the Kings, Valley of the Queens, a day trip to Abydos and Dendara, a 4 night Nile cruise, a night in Abu Simbel and an overnight trip to Alexandria and El Alamein. We went hot-air ballooning in Luxor which was awesome.

It was a perfect time to visit Egypt due to the low tourist numbers. We had King Tut’s mask all to ourselves, we were the only tourists at and in the Red Pyramid and did not have queues at any of the sights.

We never at any time felt unsafe and didn’t see any trouble at all in our time in Egypt. We even went through Tahrir Square the day after a demonstration and it was very calm and quiet. To anyone considering a trip to Egypt I would say definitely go now, you won’t regret it.

I would highly recommend Memphis Tours. A private tour gave us the flexibility to see what we wanted to see and spend as much time as we wanted seeing these sights. It was a trip of a lifetime for me and Memphis did not disappoint in delivering a fantastic holiday of a lifetime. All four of us had a great time and were really impressed with Memphis’s service. Thank you to Abdo for putting together an amazing trip that I will remeber forever and thanks to all our tour guides and drivers.

If you want the best - you need to book with Memphis Tours
Nicole, 7/19/12
We just got back from a 17 day trip to Jordan and Egypt through Memphis tours and I can't imagine travelling in Egypt with another company. If you want top quality guides and a tour company that can meet your needs, this is the company to go with. They had organized our tour in Jordan and our hotels and everything was high quality. We had Marwa Samir organize our trip and she was amazing - took care of all the details, made sure our hotels were high quality and happily responded to our endless questions. Upon our arrival in Egypt, we were met at the airport by one of the nicest, most organized representative (sadly, I can't recall his name) helped us through immigration and getting our visa. Our Egyptologist in Cairo, Ahmed Kamel, was extremely knowledgeable, very friendly, easy to talk to and very helpful. He provided us with history and interesting information on the sites as well as great tips on buying things in the bazaar. Our driver (another Ahmed - last name, Hassan, I think), was so polite with the biggest smile - he made driving through the crazy streets of Cairo a lot less stressful. We then moved on to Aswan and met our representative - another Ahmed who was so interesting to talk to and very helpful. We also met our new guide, Yasser Abdul - what a great experience that was. He had so much energy and knowledge, we had a lot of fun with him. He also gave us some great tips and information to help us in the markets. If you are interested in going to Egypt, Memphis tours can either set you up with one of their standard tours, or they can do for you what they did for us and set up a custom tour, like they did for us. You won't regret it. Some of you might like to know about the situation in Egypt - we felt safe the entire time, the people seem very happy and are hopeful that the revolution will improve things. In fact, I recommend going as soon as possible because the sites are less busy so you're not in with mobs of people - makes for a nice way to see some of the worlds most historical sites!

Unbelievable value and great experience
B B, 3/20/12
We did a 14 day tour of Egypt and Jordan during December 2011.

We normally hate the idea of packaged tours, so were thrilled when we booked a private tour through Memphis for such a reasonable price. For the same cost as a no-frills group tour with Intrepid, we were able to stay in five star hotels and enjoyed our own private guide and private driver.

Having your own driver is a worthwhile luxury and the drivers were very accommodating, buying us water and snacks and always ready when we were.

Our guides were all knowledgable and informative. Most were friendly although a couple of the guides had an annoying habit of only talking to me and not my husband. With that minor exception, they were accommodating and we especially enjoyed their insights about modern Egyptian life. They were also helpful in giving us a heads up about and advising how best to deal with the hawkers who are at all the major sites.

The hotels and cruise ship (Al Jamila) were all nice and comfortable and the staff on Al Jamila were especially friendly and welcoming.

Given the political instability in Egypt, we were a little nervous before going, but we were very well looked after, were always accompanied by a guide, and never ever felt unsafe.

The pre-trip arrangements were easy and our contact Eman was very helpful when we wanted to amend trip details.

Our tour in Jordan, while booked through Memphis, was managed by Petra Night Tours, who were also very professional.

We were very impressed with the level of service provided by Memphis Tours. From talking to other travellers, Egypt can be a difficult place to travel at times, but Memphis made it a very easy and enjoyable experience.

Great experience with the planning of our trip
Nicole, 2/20/12
Despite the turmoil going on in Egypt, we decided to go anyway - the country can probably use all the tourists that can get right now! We first began working with Mohamed and then Mawra Samir. Both have been so helpful and accommodating - we gave them a list of places we wanted to see, even some hard to get to spots like Dendera, and they were able to design an amazing tour of Egypt and Jordan for us that was very reasonably priced. We will be traveling at the end of June 2012 and I'm confident that if the service we have received so far from Mephis Tours is any indication, our trip will be incredible!

unmistakable vacation
myoeminn, 2/19/12
We have been reluctant to go to Egypt & Jordan in 2011 but finally we could not wait anymore and made it happen with Memphis tour since all USA tours keep cancelling for security reasons. We are really glad we made it finally. It was amazing trip to witness first civilized area of human beings. Cairo and all tourist attraction areas are safe and secure. Our first credit goes to Manager Mr Mohammed Fayez, who arranged everything in detail as American way and made them happen without a glitch. Although I never met him in person, my appreciations for him is enormous. Memphis tour guides from Cairo, Mohammed Baseer, and Ahmed Hussein from Sham-El Sheikh, are very good and punctual. Local guide Ms Maha was perfect and friendly Driver Ahmed is unforgettable. Raed from Amman is good too.
Other than experiencing and witnessing fantastic & unbelievable monuments and structures of Great Egypt, and friendly Jordan, we are very happy to meet a lot of new people from different world and became friends.
Whoever thinking of visiting Middle East, Memphis tour should be the first place to check with since it can find right length of stay, reasonable cost and fulfill all you need. I could now recommend to all my friends and colleagues to visit Egypt, Jordan and Israel with Memphis tour and not to worry about anything else.

It was absolutly brilliant; a holiday of a lifetime - I would recommend this company to anyone
Lester Bath, 2/6/12
My daughter and I visited both Egypt and Jordan, and Memphis Tours amended the trip to take in sites she particularly wanted to visit. Any company can score well when everything goes all right but Memphis were brilliant when things went wrong on a couple of oocasions; finding a room for me for an afternoon when I was not well (free of charge) and upgrading us at no cost when we were unhappy with one hotel. Both the tour reps and the guides were excellent. Both of us agree we would certainly use them again and I have already recommeded them to a couple of people who are thinking of holidaying in Egypt.

We recently returned from a two-week tour in Egypt and Jordan that we booked with Mr. Mohammed Amer of Memphis Tours. From the day we began planning this trip about half a year ago to the day we returned from our trip, we have had only positive experiences with Memphis Tours.

From the get go, Mr. Amer was incredibly helpful in assisting us plan a vacation that would work with our schedule and budget, and include all the sights and activities on our list. He was patient and accommodating, and every bit of our two weeks was put to good use -- not a minute was wasted idling or waiting, but the itinerary didn't feel rushed either. With two weeks for our vacation, we had a very lengthy list of sights and activities, some of which were a bit more unusual and demanding than what most travellers to Egypt ask for, but Mr. Amer went above and beyond all of our expectations and even included lots of extras to ensure that our trip would be smooth and comfortable.

Memphis Tours's ground staff in Egypt was just as good at implementing the itinerary for our private tour as Mr. Amer was at planning it. The company's liaisons and operators at each of the stops were always courteous and prompt and always made us feel like we had people to count on wherever we went, our guides were very helpful and knowledgeable, and our drivers were professional and hard-working. No one tried to take us on shopping detours or pressure us into anything as we've encountered in some other places in the past, and even during the tour itself our guides and operators were accommodating with changes and requests.

Overall, our vacation with Memphis Tours was one of the best vacations we've ever taken, and Memphis Tours certainly is the best travel company that we have ever dealt with. We have fond memories of two great weeks in Egypt and Jordan, and highly recommend Mr. Amer and Memphis Tours to anyone who is thinking about taking a vacation in Egypt.

“Excellent tour, excellent price, professional/knowledgable / trustworty staff”

There are a lot of reviews for this company, so I won't belabor this. My sister & I booked with Memphis for 3.5 days in Cairo & 3.5 days in Jordan. This isn't a "luxury" tour, but it is really really good and you get a lot for the price.

--We felt totally safe & were well taken care of at every step of the process. Special thanks for Ahmed Osman, our driver Ahmed & our very able guide Maha. They really made us feel comfortable in Cairo. (I had been to Cairo twice before & honestly didn't think much of it, but they totally changed my mind on this tour!) My sister had never been to the Middle East before and she loved it and just thought everyone was so friendly.
--Recommend taking the Alexandria tour, its a lovely city.
--We upgraded to Mena House for Cairo and loved it, totally recommend doing this.
--If I had to do it all over again, the only thing I would change is asking to have a private dedicated guide in Jordan as we did in Cairo as that really makes a difference. We had local guides at each location in Jordan, some were better than others.
--We were really impressed with the staff in Cairo, they were on time, at the top of their game every day and I think they would have done just about anything we asked for to make our time there the best it could be. They were total professionals and we highly recommend it.
