Exactly what I wanted -- tailored to a very specific request
Edk, 8/4/11
  Dear Bassem,

My trip to St. Antony Monastery was fantastic and everything I could have wanted it to be. The driver and tour guide were very good. They took the time to make sure I saw what I wanted to see, I was never rushed (I was always told, “This is your day”), and they were patient with my many requests. For example, on the return journey, I needed some representative photos of the desert. So we made a number of stops – and I have the exact photos that I needed.

At the monastery, Fr. Ruwais Antony (the guide) was fantastic. He gave me a personal tour of the monastery. I also had the chance to climb to the cave of St. Antony, which took time (about 50-60 minutes up; spent about 30 minutes in the cave, and then the climb down). All the while, the guide and driver patiently waited.

This was the one place in Egypt that, with only one free day, I wanted to visit because (1) I am a Greek Catholic Deacon (similar to Orthodox) and (2) I do an annual program in Great Lent entitled, "Into the Desert: Sharing the Wisdom of the Desert Fathers and Mothers." Now, in addition to the ancient writings, I have the pictures and experience of having gone into the same desert.

In summary, I received exactly what I wanted – time to enjoy the monastery and the cave of St. Antony. The driver and guide were extremely friendly, very patient when I wanted to see things, I was never rushed, and I have fantastic pictures from the experience. In terms of the tour, I was glad that you offered specifically this day trip.

Next time, I will want to see St. Catherine’s Monastery in Sinai. I understand this will require two days and I will plan accordingly. However, based on my experience with your company, you will be the group I contact next time I am able to come to Egypt.

“An amazing trip through the deserts of Egypt”
crash52, 6/23/10
I booked a desert safari with memphis tours for 7 days.
What I got was an amazing journey through the Sahara desert.
I was shown so many things, for example an old fort which was built on top of a temple.
We visited some desert oasis, saw mummies and went inside a cave.
The guide was a very kind and professional man. He knew where to go without any gps and could explain everything about the locations we visited. He also cooked very well and varied (quite important when you only get to eat what he can make out of the things you took with you in the car during the entire trip!).
For anyone who wants to see more than just temples and pyramids, this is deffinitely the right thing!
