Day 2: Bangkok - Railway Market and Damneon Saduak and City Tour

You will start your journey to the Rom Hub Railway Market (Folding Umbrella market) underway today by boarding a train at Mae Klong Station. Located on a train track, Rom Hub Market is unlike any other market in the world. Fresh produce, fruits, and other farm goods are sold here on an active railroad track by the locals. As soon as they hear the train coming, the vendors will hurriedly cover their umbrellas and take down their stands.

One of the most visited and photographed places in Thailand is the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. An exhilarating and scenic ride on a longtail speedboat will take us past riverside villages and fruit plantations, before entering the vibrant market. There are many photo opportunities along the way and at the colorful market. Vendors sell tropical fruits, exotic vegetables and aromatic snacks from small wooden sampans on the water, while stalls on the dockside are laden with local handicrafts, wood carvings, assorted silks and other trinkets. It’s a great place to buy souvenirs and get an insight into Thailand’s rural culture.

This afternoon, check-out two of Bangkok's most significant landmarks today: Wat Pho and the Grand Palace. Wat Pho, or the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, is home to a 46-meter-long gold- leafed lying Buddha. The glittering Grand Palace, a perfect example of an ancient Siamese court, can be found on the banks of the Chao Phraya River and is a must-see for any visitor to Bangkok. The Temple of the Emerald Buddha can be found inside the grounds (Wat Phra Kaew).

Explore the garden's natural surroundings, read up on natural treatments, and whip up some vitamin and herb-filled balls for the elephants. Vitamin balls need to be fed. Give the elephants some bananas or sugar cane. You can take a shower while looking out over a mountain stream. If you don't want to keep an eye on them or wash them yourself, please do so.
