The tour itself was amazing. Well Organized. But we faced a bit of issue on our pyramids tour. The road was a bit crowded so we lost a bit of time.

Cairo and Memphis tours
Laura, 12/31/13
From being picked up at Cairo airport and during all the sites I saw, it was well put together, (thanks Abdo) for all of that-can't say enough. Also the tour guides were amazing, very knowledgeable thank you especially to Tarek and Alaa they rocked as tour guides at many of the sites I visited. I would recomend them to anyone else who is doing the Egypt tours!

My whole trip was an amazing experience and would want to do this again.

“Luxor Tour”
Jetsetter, 12/16/13
Memphis Tours did a fantastic job organizing my tour at the last minute (the day before I arrived in Cairo). It is worth it for the money you spend - they fly you there and back, ensure you have transporation to/from airport and provide a meal. I did the personal tour and spent $550 (US). I had my own personal tour guide, Hagar who was amazing. She knew so much and it was great to to be able to chat with her about Egypt, the history and the changes. Luxor is so beautiful and historical that without a guide it is difficult to appreciate. I never spend money on tours/private tours as a backpacker in general but this time I decided to splurge in one of the most historic cities in the world and it was well worth the expense. I felt safe and secure. I also made sure to provide a nice tip to both the driver and the tour guide to thank them for their service. Given the current economic conditions in Egypt I felt this was important. Thanks Memphis Tours!

Great Tour Company - Very Professional
catc , 11/24/13
We travelled in a group of 6 and did a tour with Memphis from Cairo to Luxor and would highly recommend anyone to book with them if planning a trip to Egypt. The staff are very well-organised, professional, accommodating, and strive to make your trip as stress-free and easy as possible. They take care of everything from hotel reservations to booking domestic flights to entry visas. All we had to do was show up!!

Honestly we would have been very lost and confused if we had DIY. It's not easy to get around on your own and find your own way in Egypt. Memphis saved us a lot of time, headaches, and offers good value for money considering what you get out of the tour!

An amazing holiday in Cairo (It's safe to go there)
Maria, 10/6/13
Thank you Memphis Tours for a wonderful and safe trip in Cairo and Luxor. My partner, his daughter and myself spent 5 amazing days touring these two towns. We saw far more than expected and can only thank the Memphis staff for listening to our requests, mainly about trying out the local eating establishments rather than restaurants. They were also happy to change the itinerary around to make the trip better for everyone. Takek and Mostafa (Cairo) Mohamed and Yasser (Luxor) were all extremely informative, enthusiastic and were very protective of us. After waiting for many years to see the pyramids I was not disappointed and to actually go into tombs was just wonderful. The only disappointment would be the lack of tourists for Egypt. If you are thinking of a trip to Egypt - go for it and log onto Memphis Tours, they will not disappoint you.
Thank you also to Fatima my 1st contact - your help was invaluable.

Journey of a Lifetime!
Nadine, 10/4/13
I recently visited Egypt with my dad and his partner. We were very well looked after in Cairo and Luxor by the wonderfully brilliant Memphis Tours. Mustafa, Tarek and Ahmed in Cairo and Yasser and Muhammed in Luxor were incredibly informative and friendly and kept us safe and happy at all times. I had such an incredible time in Egypt - from the pyramids, the mosques and museums in Cairo to the Nile, temples and tombs in Luxor. Would not hesitate to recommend - thank you so much Memphis!

“Superb tour of Luxor”
Cctr, 8/13/13

We were visiting my son in Cairo and had a very short time in Egypt. Memphis tours arranged a one day tour of Luxor for us and it was wonderful from beginning to end. We left Cairo at 5:30 am and returned very late the same day. They made all the arrangements from pick-up at our hotel to flights to tour guides and everything went smoothly and as planned. Our tour guide was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. It was a long day but one of the highlights of our entire trip.

Isa, 8/8/13
I will never regret choosing Memphis Tours. Every thing was organized for us and the people are very nice and helpful and professional. We enjoyed every day of it and we defensively plan on going back some day. My family and me really enjoyed how organized everything was for us and how safe they made us feel. They answered every question we had and made sure we were satisfied with our tour. Our tours were always on time with everything.

Visit Egypt
Lisa Harris, 7/29/13
Memphis tours went over any vacation expectation to make sure that my family and I were safe, secure and ensured we had an amazing time in Egypt. The only way to see Egypt is to have a tour guide and driver in which Memphis Tours is fully prepped with. We had an amazing Egyptologist (Joseph Selim) who went above and beyond his duties of educating us and keeping us safe. From Tahrir square to the oldest library in the world in Alexandria Joseph Selim was the ultimate tour guide. We took an excursion to Luxor and our guide (Sayed Selim the tour guide) was also was most amazing in sharing his versatile knowledge at the Karnak temple and Hatshepsut temple.
The tour guides are truly there for you and by the time we left we considered them part of our family.
Visit Egypt and don't be afraid. They loved us Americans and welcomed us with open hearts!

Amazing time in Egypt, revolution not an issue
cole horchler, 7/29/13
I came to Cairo for a short trip over the weekend. I had planned the trip before the revolution started and I decided that It wouldn't be a problem. The only way I could tell there was a revolution was because I was the only tourist at nearly every attraction, I literally had the pyramids all to myself and my great guide & friend Ahmed Farahat, as with the Djoser Pyramid and the Egyptian museum. Do not worry about traveling there, it is still perfectly safe and you are in good hands with memphis tours, it's sad under the circumstances but the lack of tourist is actually a massive benefit for you right now, not only can you take your time and not be stressed by crowds, but everything is cheaper as well.
I stayed in the Mena House Hotel, coming from a study abroad trip in Germany I've been living in a small dorm room with a shared bathroom and no a/c for the last four months. I didn't look at the hotel before I went and I was just looking forward to air conditioning. I was surprised to find I was staying in a full 5 star resort with the highest level of class and service. The only downside to the hotel is that you have to pay for internet, besides that It was amazing and I will be staying there next time I visit Egypt.

Excellent Tours in both Luxor and Cairo
Julia S, 6/16/13
We recently went to Egypt and organised tours in both Luxor and Cairo through Memphis Tours. Both were great, we had our own driver and guide so the tour catered to exactly what we wanted. We were in good hands and as well as having fun we learnt lots about the local culture and monuments. Guides were very knowledgeable and made us feel safe. We would definitely recommend it. Thank you!

Cairo-Luxor: all the Egypt you need
Gregg L, 6/15/13
I decided to stop in Egypt on the way to an internship/volunteer work in Tanzania this summer. Initially I thought about doing the single day layover, but when I did the research, I couldn't help but sign up for the Cairo-Luxor package with Memphis Tours. Having studied Egypt substantially in college, this was a dream come true.
My guide in Cairo, Rehab was wonderful. She was an Egyptologist and provided great information to help me appreciate the sites we visited (pyramids, Egyptian Museum, downtown, Old Cairo). Most importantly, she helped make the day as stress free as possible, and adjusted our tour to make sure we didn't get stuck in heavy traffic areas. Be sure to ask for Rehab, you won't regret it!
In Luxor, my guide, Shaimaa Baheeg was absolutely wonderful. She was also very professional and personable. Luxor is a great addition to your trip because the town is a lot smaller and has a "home-town" feel to it. The people are great, and Shaimaa definitely helped me feel like a part of the Luxor family. She even hooked me up with a personalized lunch of my favorite Egyptian foods (koshary, fruit, soobia, sugar cane drinks...the works!). Honestly, ask for Shaimaa when you go to Luxor, she's like the long lost Egyptian cousin that you didn't know you had!
My tour director, Osama was amazing. I honestly felt like I had nothing to worry about at all. He was really fun to talk to as well. I learned a lot about Egyptian society, politics, and lifestyles just from our chats. He's the MAN!

“Customer service was incredible!”
Carito V, 5/29/13
I really recommend this agency! Their customer service is incredible! I stayed in Egypt with my sister and my brother in law for a week and we had an amazing time together! All the tours were neatly arranged, we took a really safe train from Cairo to Luxor and then we came back to Cairo to take our respective flights to come back home! Abdul from the office, Tamer our tour leader and Mahmoud our tour guide were amazing! All of them made from our experience something unforgettable! We hope to see them again and we really appreciate how nice they we were to the 3 of us! :)

Memphis Tours
Lan, 3/18/13
Memphis Tours is an excellent choice for your trip to Egypt! I highly recommend requesting Sayed Selim to be your guide. Sayed is extremely knowledgable of the history and culture in Egypt in both the past and present. Being a teacher, I was able to pass on the information to
my students when I returned. Sayed is also a fantastic person who makes you feel comfortable on the tours, answers your questions and has a good sense of humor. He went out of his way to buy a few items (in Luxor) for members of our group while we went back to the ship to rest. Sayed also speaks english very well, he has a lot of energy and is enthusiastic about sharing his ancient country with you.

“Amazing Cairo - Luxor Tour”
Arindam, 2/1/13
We just came back from an excellent Cairo and Luxor trip...all thanks to Memphis Tours. The trip was well planned and executed. The day we were in Cairo, co-incidentally was also the 2nd anniversary of the revolution, but due to good planning we could cover all places...our Guide - Amr Yosry safely took us around. The trip was informative and enjoyable.
We then proceeded to Luxor. The city of Luxor is clean and beautiful. Adding to that we got a wonderful guide Shaimaa. Being Indians, we found the Egyptian food (included in the package) to be a bit bland. The stay at both the places was great.

Overall, we had a good service provided by Memphis Tours - starting from the Sales agent to the Tour Manager. I would recommend them to anyone travelling to Egypt

“Excellent Tour Company”
Mika M, 1/29/13
We booked a 5 days tour (Cairo and Luxor) via numerous correspondence with Fattoush Saad. Booking was hassle-free and very smooth. Fattoush replied very quickly and professionally. We were then picked up at the airport by the company's guest relation rep - a very friendly and professional Mohamed Besheer and then escorted us to the hotel. The next day, we were picked up by our lovely tour guide, Medhat Mahmoud for our Pyramids and Cairo city tour. Medhat was ever patient and helpful. He treated us as not only his guests but as friends. He even bargained for us as the Bazaar! I had to call Medhat at 4am to ask for help and he resolved it straight away! Amazing service! Our Luxor tour was fantastic! We were met by a rep, driver and then our wonderful tour guide, Shaima Baheeg. Shaima was very knowledgeable and passionate about her hometown. She was very warm and friendly. It was almost like touring with your family. Shaima was kind enough to take us to a restaurant to try local food and it was divine! Overall, our experience with Memphis was great. We love everyone there - our guest rep, the drivers and especially our exceptional tour guides. It was an extraordinary experience we will never forget. I will definitely recommend Memphis to all my friends and family.

“Cairo/Luxor sights”
Kenneth F, 1/19/13
I ordered this trip online. Excellent organisation, flexible service - I changed my mind a couple of times and they just did it. From pick up at airport at midnight, to drop off at airport going home 6 days later, never a glitch. Having the private guide who organised everything and picked the best sights and times was a big plus. Yasser and Rihab were well-informed, attentive guides who were a pleasure to be with. This made the whole trip much more interesting and enjoyable. All the staff were helpful and friendly. Driver in Cairo (Mustafa) was amazing in dealing with horrendous traffic.
Hotels very satisfactory - lovely spot on Nile at Luxor to watch the sun go down.
Would definitely go again, great value and recommend highly.

Amazing 2 weeks in Egypt thanks to Memphis Tours' wonderful Tour Guides
Laura Wollongong, 1/6/13
Visited Egypt with Memphis Tours Nov/Dec 2012, because of Christmas I'm a bit late with my review but promised I would do it so here goes. We booked hotels and flights ourselves, then, after lots of research, booked everything else with Memphis Tours and were so very happy we did. Our 2 week holiday in Egypt was amazing, even more so than we expected thanks to the amazing tour guides with Memphis Tours. We were met at the airport by Ahmed who took care of everything, even organised mobile phone sims, gave us a Memphis Tours mobile phone to call him if we had any problems, even checked us into our hotel which we had booked ourselves, wonderful service from him the whole trip, right up to taking us back to the airport for our departure, we can't thank you enough. Next, our absolutely wonderful guide for all our Cairo adventures, Amr Yosry, you are amazing, we were picked up by Amr and driver Hamdy (a genious at negotiating the Cairo traffic) and we felt safe and relaxed immediately with these wonderful people. The sights of Cairo are something we mostly just dreamt about seeing but to get to see them all with wonderful people like these made it so much better.

Next stop was Luxor with Memphis Tours' guide Mohamed Emam, amazing Egyptologist, can't believe how much he taught us in such a short time, we can't praise him enough, we felt very privileged to have him as our guide, again, thank you Mohamed.
Last but certainly not least was our Aswan guide, El Hassan El Shazly, by the time we reached Aswan we had seen and discovered a lot about Egypt but this did not put Hassan off one bit. He showed us Aswan in such a fun way, he is an absolute character who had us laughing most of the time, lovely young man and beautiful city.
We don't believe our trip would have been anywhere near as wonderful as it was without the amazing team at Memphis Tours, the only way to see Egypt, with the people that know it best. We have already recommended Memphis Tours to several people as we have complete confidence in them. Anyone thinking of planning a trip to Egypt and are not sure what to do, when to go, whether it's safe etc. contact Memphis Tours you won't regret it, Egypt is amazing, nowhere else like it, we just loved every minute of our trip.

Amazing trip to Cairo, Luxor and Alexandria
Ellen joan, 1/2/13
We looked at G Adventures, Intrepid and Memphis Tours when trying to decide who to book with on our trip to Egypt in December 2012 and went with Memphis because of their rapid response to my inquiry and the flexibility they offered. We did a whirlwind tour of Cairo/Giza, Luxor and Alexandria in 6 days. We could not have been MORE pleased by the service we received.

First - GO TO EGYPT! If you have been thinking about it but have been hesitant because of the political situation there...just go. There are few tourists at the moment so you can literally have the pyramids to yourself. We never felt unsafe and were in great hands with all of our guides. Okay, now back to Memphis...

I worked with a lovely woman named Fattoush who helped tailor some of their shorter tours into a full vacation. She was extremely helpful and responsive, despite the time difference between the US and Egypt. We were able to work together to have every detail worked out, from domestic transit, to domestic flights, to hotels.

When we arrived in Cairo we were met by Ahmed, our wonderful 'concierge' who guided us through immigration and customs and lead us to our car. He helped us check into our hotel and was our contact person in Cairo in case we needed anything (gave us a loaner cell phone with his number) Note - you do NOT want to drive in Cairo. Traffic laws are simply not obeyed, and I commend our drivers for always making sure we arrived at our destinations safely.

For our first few nights we stayed at the Oberoi Mena House in Giza with a beautiful view of the pyramids from our room and is a nice respite from the craziness of Giza outside the property. Our Cairo tour guide, Maha, met us the next morning and took us to the pyramids, where, as I mentioned above, there were few people. We took the obligatory camel rides, which actually got us the best pictures and was pretty fun. We saw the Hanging Church and Old Cairo as well as the Cairo Museum and all the loot from inside Tut's tomb. Maha was knowledgeable about all the history and was great fun to spend time with.

Next we were off to Luxor to see the Valley of the Kings, Temple of Hatshepsut and Colissi of Memnon on day 1 and Karnak and Luxor temples on day 2. Luxor was a great, smaller city and is accurately described as a 'living museum'. Everywhere you look there is some monument in view. In Luxor we were in the very capable hands of Yahia (our concierge) and Shaimaa (our tour guide). One thing - if you are a blonde woman, definitely keep a scarf with you. Some school children asked to take pictures with me and I let them but then was swarmed by 8 year olds and had to be rescued by fabulous Shaimaa. They didn't mean any harm but I did get much less attention when I covered my hair at the tourist sites. In Luxor we stayed at Sonesat St. George, which was right on the Nile. If you can get a room away from the street I recommend that since they don't have the double paned glass and the traffic noise (horns honking) can be a bit loud.

We then were whisked back to Cairo, where we stayed at the Kempiniski Hotel Downtown between our trip to Alexandria. I would definitely recommend this hotel for the beds alone - very comfy with fabulous Egyptian cotton sheets. Maha went with us to Alexandria where we saw the Qaitbay Citadel, a beautiful Mosque, the Roman catacombs, and the Alexandria library.

Again, thank you so very much to our drivers, Fattoush, Maha, Ahmed, Yahia and Shaimaa. Wonderful, knowledgeable people. We could not have asked for a better group of people to help us experience Egypt.

If you have questions about any of our trip, feel free to message me.

“The Amazing Cairo and Luxor”
Jane lish, 11/3/12

I had a grand time in EGYPT and all thanks to MEmphis Tours!
Within 24 hours after inquiring about itineraries and what-to-dos in Egypt, Memphis Agent Ms. Fattoush Saad promptly answered and had given me the best options for a 5-day tour and even updated me from time to time about our booking.
I encountered a problem with regards to a friend who was not able to get a pre-arrival Visa in which I had to cancel her travel but Ms. Fattoush managed to help me in the refund of the fees even though I had her informed in a week time.
Our Tour Guides were EXCELLENT! Mahmoud from Cairo and Nabil of Luxor made sure that we were comfortable during the tours and they had shared marvelous information in every place we visited. I never appreciated Ancient History when we were in College but they made us felt that EGYPT has got it's marvelous History =)
The tour was nice since there are no other groups with us (we're 5 btw) and checking on other tour groups with their headset on while the guide is telling information seems like a different thing. Hence, there's no pressure in waiting for "others" when you wanted to take a little of time to a certain place (and take pictures of course!).
Mr. Hamada Roshidy who's the representative of Memphis during our arrival and Departure was pretty COOL! He even danced with us for a video we made and treated us for Lunch on our last day =p (how lucky can we get?)

Memphis Tour is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! The Tour Package was worth every penny and I'm certain i'd ask my friends to book tours with them in the Future.. from Cairo and Nabil of Luxor made sure that we were comfortable during the tours and they had shared marvelous information in every place we visited. Quick and excellent Egypt trip!
Carrie, 6/20/12
My friends and I traveled to Egypt for a weekend trip from Europe. Because we had so little time, we used Memphis Tours to arrange excursions for both Luxor and Cairo. We wanted to see it all-they were two long and hot days, but well worth it and Memphis Tours was wonderful! We had airport pickup, hotel pickup, hot air balloon ride, full day of East and West Bank of Luxor tours, then the pyramids tour in Cairo the next day.

Both of our guides were very well informed, friendly, and answered any questions we had. I was very impressed by them. I would highly recommend Memphis Tours--they are excellent with email communication prior to the trip as well as being excellent guides once there.

Enjoy Egypt with Memphis
Jaohann Skie, 6/17/12
This was my first time to travel alone and I made the right decision to explore Egypt with Memphis tours. I took the Cairo-Luxor package and I can tell that it was a travel worth to have.

Upon arrival in the airport, my tour managers (Cairo and Luxor) was really helpful and accommodating - guided me to my private van, did the check-in the hotel, had a brief discussion about my itineraries. It felt that I was being pampered from the very beginning :) Their schedule was flexible - making mine the same too - they can amend to your needs so there's no pressure or hassle during the tour. They even recommend optional activities which I can say a very good experience for one.

My tour guides were knowledgeable of the things I needed to know to make may vacation worthwhile. Ask them questions, they'd give you answers right away :) Thank Raheb, Ayman!!! They even help me to send-off some annoying touts

With Memphis Tours, they'll arrange the things you need to have a wonderful and a stay worth while in Egypt! =) Thank you Memphis!

Egypt - An Amazing Holiday
merilyn, 6/8/12
I have recently come back from the best Holiday , my family travelled to Egypt in May .
This amazing trip was planned by Abdo Shawky , a very efficient travel consultant .He happily answered all our questions and planned an excellent holiday. We were met by Abdelfatah Mohamed the tour manager in Cairo who made us feel very welcome. Our first guide in Cairo Ahmed Abdelhamid was so passionate about his job , his knowledge of history is excellent.
We then embarked on the Nile Cruise , guided by Alaa Elsawy , and visted Aswan and Luxor .
Alaa was fun and full of energy , his tours was very informative ,he became part of the family.
The last part of the trip was to Sharm , guided by Ahmed Gomma , it is beautiful and relaxing in Sharm .Gomma was great .Thank you to all the Memphis guides for the excellent service from day 1 to day 12. Egypt is a safe place for tourists

Egypt on my mind
Genya G, 5/29/12

I just spent a week in Cairo on a business trip. This is not my first time in Egypt but it happened so that it has always been business only with occasional site seeing around Cairo and day trip to Alexandria at the most. I have always wanted to visit Luxor but have been under impression that this is way too much for a day trip and therefore I could never find the right company to undertake a longer trip. This time though as I have inquired in the hotel - me & my two collegues have been offered a day trip including the flights to and from Cairo, all transfers and the full day of site seeing in Luxor. The tour has been organized thru Memphis Tours and has been absolutely perfect with flawless execution and incredible places to see and people to meet.
This was my fifth time in Egypt in the past two years. First trips before revolution and three trips after. Ever since I first set a foot on this land - I was blown away by warmth, sincerity and genuine emotions on Egyptian people. This time in Luxor - the absolute highlight of our tour has been our guide, beautiful Ms Shimaa Baheeg. Everything, from incredible depth of her knowledge and pride that she takes in her country to the most wonderful way that she shares this knowledge, constantly keeping you engaged with her stories, and getting it to the perfect level and intensity of information so that you can actually relate to it and retain it - Shimaa simply can not leave anyone indifferent. It is not very common that you come across such a qualified guide and such a remarkable person - by the end of that day I honestly felt I found a sister. This trip made such an impression on me that I have started planning a trip with my family and if I can arrange Shimaa accompany us around - there is nothing more that one could wish to get a full immersion in this incredible and mystical country. Thank you Sheimaa!

Great experience with Memphis
prou, 5/17/12

We traveled to Cairo at the end of April 2012. We had a wonderful experience with Memphis Tours, both in Luxor and Giza. Both guides were very knowledgeable and courteous, and we enjoyed our trip very much. Only two comments for improvement: the lunch in Luxor was very limited in options. I know that we are vegetarians, but we were very surprised that even the Egyptian bread was not available. Perhaps another restaurant with more options could be made available (we immensely enjoyed the vegetarian lunch at the outdoor restaurant in Giza). Also, our day trip to Luxor required us to have to pay extra (small amt) for a hotel respite as our flight did not depart for Cairo until 10:30p. While we did not mind because we got to see more in Luxor, it would have been nice to know that the tour actually ends at 4 or 5, so that we could have planned the extra time out better. Ayman was very nice and helped us in planning an activity at the last minute. Otherwise, Memphis was a great experience and we will definitely recommend it to other travelers.

A very professional tour
Jayne, 5/13/12

we travelled from Australia a young couple in our early 60s. Memphis was fantastic, couldn't fault them, we emailed them and let them know what we wanted and how long we were able to travel, they did the lot. the guides were a wealth of information. we travelled to luxor to pick up our cruise, were always met at the designated times. they made the tour of Egypt very stress free.
We did lose a bag with Egypt Air between Cairo and Luxor, we were so grateful of Mohamed who stayed with us for the 4 hr at Cairo airport working on our behalf.

however: I would recommend that if you are travelling to Cairo, only take hand luggage
i am still waiting for a reply from Egypt Air and compensation for the lost bag. we are now in our 6th month they don't respond to emails.

I would travel again o Egypt but only take hand luggage and recommend Menphys tours who were very professional at all time and extremely friendly.

A couple of kinks but overall a wonderful trip
amiprice, 4/21/12
We visited Cairo and Luxor over 8 days in March 2012 and absolutely loved the country! If you are reading this and at all hesitating about going, let me assure you - don't hesitate. It was positively amazing. We felt nothing but welcomed and safe.

Our representative in Cairo was Mohamed Besheer and in Luxor, our representative was Hassan Saidi. All of our emails were with Fatima Sayed.

Fatima was very responsive over email and had endless patience for my myriad of questions. She helped me to build a perfect itinerary, never hesitating when I asked to make a change. Mohamed and Hassan were cheerful, professional, and truly a joy to be around! We very much enjoyed our time with them. They each went above and beyond to make sure we had a wonderful trip.

In Cairo, our tour guide was Amany Salem, and in Luxor, we were paired with Nabil Ibrahim. Both were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Their styles were quite different. Amany walked through each of the sites with us, while giving us information about the site and its history, while Nabil gave information up front and we walked around the site ourselves. We preferred Amany's style, although this is in no way a knock on Nabil, who was a wonderful guide.

We did have two logistical issues. First, the flight time of our domestic flight from Cairo to Luxor (which was booked by Memphis Tours) was apparently changed by Egypt Air, and we missed our flight. We were lucky to be able to catch the next flight (an hour and a half later), but if we hadn't have been able to do that, the next one was ~7 hours later, so it could have been a big problem. Word to the wise: they won't reconfirm the flights they booked, so do it yourself.

Secondly, on our last day in Luxor, we were picked up at 9am. We were scheduled to take a sleeper train from Luxor to Cairo that left at 10:30. We thought this meant that we had a very full day of touring. Turns out, we were done after lunch! We could have slept in and enjoyed a fabulous morning at the pool at our hotel (the Hilton Luxor - FABULOUS), but instead, we had 8 hours of dead time. During this time, Memphis Tours did book us a day rate (at no cost to us) at a small hotel (the Susanna Hotel), but this definitely didn't make up for what would have been 6 more hours at least at our positively amazing hotel.

But on the positive side of the logistics, during that last day in Luxor, I came down with a bit of travel tummy, and after calling Hassan on the Memphis Tours-provided phone, they arranged flights for us back to Cairo and had it booked within 5 minutes. We were so grateful to have that telephone and for their immediate response!

One thing that I did not like at all was that even though we had a very specific agreed-upon itinerary, they still tried to sneak in things like a) a shop, b) a papyrus factory, c) a carpet factory, and d) an alabaster factory. We skipped the papyrus and carpet factories, but we did let ourselves be taken to the shop and the alabaster factory. The shop had very reasonable prices (it was right across from the Sphinx), but the alabaster factory was a complete rip-off.

Also, in Cairo our last stop was the Khan el-Khalili Bazaar. Amany walked the bazaar with us, and honestly, I wish that she hadn't. She clearly knew several of the shop owners and we were ushered into their shops, and when we visited other shops, she kept telling us that we were "running late" and had to go. So, please don't take your guide with you when you go to the bazaar. We would have spent at least 2 more hours there, meandering through the shops we wanted, vs struggling to visit the shops we would have liked to see.

Overall, I'd probably give Memphis a 3.5 star review - I wish Trip Advisor allowed half-stars. I wouldn't hesitate to book with them, just be aware of all of the issues I relayed, and any the others on the forum have relayed, and be firm with your choices. You will have an AMAZING time in Egypt!

Tour in Luxor-outstanding
Sarah P, 4/2/12

Everything involving Memphis Tours is helpful, friendly and professional. Our trip to Luxor was arranged through email and the service was fantastic. Bassem was thorough and always quick to respond.

We were picked up very early in the morning from the Luxor train station having just taken the sleeper train from Cairo. Yahia was waiting for us at 5:30 am and our tour began. Our guide's name was Shaima, and she was so knowledgable of all things Luxor. We had two young children with us and she interacted with them lovingly and even bought them snacks. They both told me later how much they liked Shaima!

We were planning on taking the sleeper train back to Cairo the same night (arranged ourselves and not through Memphis Tours) and Shaima really helped us out. She took us to the train station and helped translate for me, explaining that there were no more available seats (again, this was our error and a miscommunication, not any fault of Memphis Tours). Memphis Tours and Shaima went above and beyond the call of duty to help secure us transportation back to Cairo, eventually booking us last minute flight tickets and checking us in at the airport.

I highly recommend using Memphis Tours and if possible, Shaima when you go to Luxor!

Worry free with Memphis tours
Duckconsultant, 3/1/12
I started working with Memphis about 2 1/2 years ago to arrange this trip. They have continued to work with me through a revolution, riots and strikes. Through all of this Abdo Younis and the rest of the staff have done a supreme job to cater to all our wants and to make sure that this trip is worry free and completely enjoyable. From the moment we touched down in cairo Hussein was walking up the runway to get our bags and to get us through customs. From Musty in Aswam,Emad in Luxor, Ahmed in Sharm they have been superb. I don't know how they could have done more. Every tour they plan, hotel and guide has been excellent. Their motto should be, "No problem."

“Bassem from Memphis Tours turned our holiday into a magical experience”
Adele H, 2/11/12

Not only does Memphis Tours come highly recommended, but particularly Bassem, who has been absolutely amazing in helping us to book our holiday to Egypt this year. Bassem has not only fulfilled every single requirement we have asked for, but he has done this with the most prompt, friendly and efficient manner, he could not have been more helpful.

This the first holiday my partner and I have ever taken together, and thanks to Bassem and Memphis Tours we are looking forward to the holiday of our dreams to Egypt in February - thank you Bassem!

Pre Travel Booking arrangements
Geraldine M, 2/9/12
I contacted several tour operators both in the UK and Egypt to check for the trip that suited me best, both for what I wanted to see (Pyramids, Luxor, etc.), the time that I had available and the price. Maged Al Gohary of Memphis Tours ([email protected]), my tour consultant, was the most efficient and helpful by a long way. What was included and what wasn't included was very clearly listed, so that one knew exactly what one was getting - no nasty surprises!! All queries were answered within an hour or two - a huge change from an operator here in Zimbabwe who was really slack. I can highly recommend Maged.

Fantastic first class experience
Barry Caughtry-Guest, 1/30/12
I discovered Memphis tours after looking for trips to Luxor and the valley of the kings on google, and am so glad that I found them.
I booked everything via email with Fatima and received full confirmation and knew exactly what to expect when arriving in Egypt.
We were collected from our hotel by abdul and taken to giza train station for our overnight sleeper train to Luxor.
Abdul waited with us until the train arrived and then took us to our sleeper cabin. He also left us with his telephone number.
On arrival at Luxor the following morning we were met by Ahmed. He introduced us to our guide for the day, Zachariah.
Zachariah accompanied us for the morning to the valley of the kings, queen hatsepshuts temple and the colossi of meme on. All entry tickets to these were included as part of the price, as was the lunch that we then went for. He then took unto Luxor and Karnak temples.
As our return train to Giza was not until 10.30pm, we asked if he could arrange for us a hotel room so that we could rest and get cleaned up. This he went out of his way to do.
We were collected later that evening by Ahmed who escorted us on to the train, and again we were met the following morning back in Giza by Abdul.
Memphis tours provide an absolutely first class service and I cannot recommend them highly enough.
And as for the sleeper train from Giza to luxor and return, we were taken care of byour sleeper train stewardby Mohammed. He served us dinner both evenings as well as making sure that we were comfortable on more than one occasion. A real gentleman and a credit to the train service.
A fantastic experience all round.

“Absolutely wonderful, safe and very professional !!”
Lucky Traveler, 1/6/12

Just completed 5 days, 4 nights in Egypt in Dec 2011 through this tour agency. All correspondence was answered very promptly, they even called me in the USA a couple of times for clarification. I wrote what I wanted to see , in the time we had and they prepared an excellent and very , very reasonably priced trip. A representative meets you at cairo airport, whisks you through and escorts you to the hotel and explains the trip-very impressive! We booked a trip with a private driver and guide- really the way to go! They all were so informative, patient and very willing and able to accommodate change! I requested 2 additional changes to the itinerary while sightseeing and they made it happen!! Flew in country on Egypt Air( which was very safe, despite previous reviews). Felt very safe in Egypt and would return tomorrow!

We arranged 5-day tour w/ Memphis Tours w/ 3 other couples and we had an awesome time there! The guides were very knowledgeable and really helpful - especially Osama and Muhammad in Cairo & Luxor. I was even able to call outside of our official travel days and get help w/ directions! They accommodated all our needs so that we can just enjoy our time there and not worry about anything. The trips were very well-planned too. Loved falucca ride at sunset in Aswan. Wish we stayed longer than a day in Luxor, cuz there were so much to see. Thanks to numerous drivers & guides for making our trip a memorable one! I know who to go to when I come back!

Excellent two day trip to Cairo and Luxor
SebastianHedlund, 10/7/11

We are very satisfied with the 2 day trip to Cairo and Luxor provided by Memphis Tours. First we were picked up at our Hotel by Ahmed Hussein who took us to Sharm el Sheikh Airport and helped us to check in and board the plane. When Arriving in Cairo, Mohammed Omran Mimmo and our driver for the day. They took us to Giza where we met our guide Maha Mahmoud El Halwagy, who then took us to see the Pyramids and the Sphinx. After this we carried on to a papyrus factory were we where taught how to make papyrus, then we went to an Egyptian cotton shop and a souvenir shop (all verified by the Egyptian government). When we were finished with the shopping we went for lunch at a really nice restaurant next to the Nile. Finally we spent the afternoon in the Egyptian Museum and Maha showed us all kinds of old artifacts knowing every little detail about all the different artifacts. Before it was time to go through Cairo by bus to the airport (which was an adventure itself) for further transport to Luxor. We could not be happier with the day in Cairo, the places we visited were all very interesting, and with Maha being there explaining everything and answering our every little question added yet another level to our experience. We could not be more pleased with Maha Mahmoud El Halwagy, she is an excellent, funny and interesting guide who speaks really good English and is very easy to communicate with, also she is very helpful and giving good tips about what to buy and what to skip/avoid during the trip. After our day together she feels like a personal friend of ours and we would not hesitate to ask for her as a guide if we visit Cairo again in the future.
When we arrived at Luxor we were, once again, picked up by bus at the airport and taken to our four star hotel for the night.
After a night of good sleep, we met our guide, Shaimaa Baheeg, and we were taken by bus to the Valley of kings, there we visited 3 tombs which was selected by our guide according to the paintings, the size and the history of the tombs. Since the guides are not allowed to accompany you in to the tombs, Shaimaa was very kind and instructed us what to look for before entering each tomb, which is very helpful if you are a confused tourist =)
After the Valley of Kings, we went to the Al-Dier Al-Bahari Temple which we followed up with a visit at a local alabaster factory were we got a personal presentation of how they make the different statues and pots out of alabaster and how to distinguish the real handmade ones from the fakes. After this, we went back to Luxor again, and on the way we stopped at two gigantic statues which were the remains of an old temple. In Luxor, we went to a perfume shop and were introduced to the process of making the perfume glass bottle, and also different fragrances which is manufactured into perfumes. After finishing the perfume tour, Shaimaa had already pre-ordered Egyptian food for us, so we simply had to step in to the Restaurant and the starter dish was already waiting for us. The food was really good and it was nice with a break since it was very hot during this day. When the lunch was finished we went to Karnak Temple which is the biggest worshiping ground in the world. There we spent the afternoon and Shaimaa told us a lot of interesting facts and details about the temple which we would have definitely missed if we visited the temple by our selves. Shaimaa Baheeg is a very pleasant guide, and by the end of the day it felt like we had know each other for a long time. She knows a lot of fun facts about Luxor and she is easy to communicate with, and we would definitely hire her as our guide if we come back to Luxor.
After our trip to the Karnak temple, we had some relaxing time at the hotel before the bus came to pick us up and take us to Luxor Airport and our flight back to Sharm el Sheikh. In general, all the bus drivers have been excellent, it has been a real pleasure to travel with them, and even when traffic was hard, we were never worried one single bit.
In summary: We would highly recommend Memphis Tours to arrange your travel, if you use them, everything will be set and ready, and you do not have to worry because everything is taken care of. So we have absolutely nothing negative to say about them, they are friendly and the price you agree on is the price you pay in the end.

Excellent and professional service
trub, 8/6/11
My partner and I used Memphis tours to arrange a week in Cairo and Luxor.
Egypt was a stop on a world tour and despite the reservations of some people, we continued with the plans we had made in January. It was a fantastic experience and we got to see Egypt virtually on our own as so many before us had cancelled their trips. Mephis tours did a wonderful job in organising it all. I have to single out our guide in Cairo, Maha - she was so informative, and gave us such an insight into the Egypt of the past as well as the Egypt of today and their hopes for the future. Thank you Maha, we so enjoyed meeting you. Our driver was Mustaffa - the calmest driver in all of Egypt I think - thank you Mustaffa we always felt safe with you driving, and Hussein our tour manager - thank you for getting it right.
This was a very special time to visit this wonderful country and I urge anyone thinking of going to absolutely go - we felt extremely safe at all times and were made so welcome by the Egyptians we met
I also suggest you use Memphis Tours - I could not fault them.
Thanks

Pre Travel Arrangements – A refreshing start
michaeldeeb, 7/21/11
We are experienced travellers with at least 120 trips under our belt. We have dealt with many airline booking offices and companies in the travel industry. On this occasion after reading some reviews on Trip Advisor we emailed Memphis Tours in Cairo with our requirements for 2 tours and a dinner cruise. I was pleasantly surprised when Mohamed Sakr the travel consultant handling our requirement for Memphis Tours not only responded to my e-mail enquiry within 4 hours but also followed up by telephone on the same day. Mohamed Sakr was professional, knowledgeable and attentive. Since this was not our first trip to Cairo we had very specific requirements rather than just take one of the standard tours on offer. Mohamed was helpful and proactive with his assistance and sensible advice we compiled an itinerary for our requirement. The information provided was detailed and comprehensive right down to the make and model of the car which we will be using. Even when we experienced system problems when trying to make the deposit payments on line Mohamed stepped in and found an alternative solution. It was refreshing to find someone like Mohamed who took pride in providing such a high standard of service. We are leaving tomorrow on the way to Cairo and we are looking forward to our tours with Memphis. Thank you Mohamed

Excellent Tour, great staff - a wonderful experience
havcamwiltravel, 6/29/11

When my wife and I decided that we would visit Egypt so soon after the Revolution, we chose to tour with an experienced and well-reviewed company and soon narrowed the choice to Memphis Tours. We chose to do a private five-day tour of Cairo and Luxor, with drivers and Egyptologist guides for the entire trip.

In Cairo, we visited the Giza Pyramids and Sphinx, the Cairo Museum, Saqqara, Memphis, Daschur and the Khan El Khalili bazaar. In Luxor, the Valley of the Kings, and the Temples of Hatshepsut, Medinat Habu, Karnak and Luxor. It was an ambitious itinerary.

Mr. Abdo Shawky did a great job communicating with us, prior to the tour and arranging the itinerary.

Our Tour leaders, Abd El in Cairo and Ahmed in Luxor were superbly professional, helpful, always available and present. Their calm, good nature made everything happen easily.

Our guides, Sahl (Easy) in Cairo and Oussama in Luxor were entertaining, very knowledgeable and a joy to tour with. We were always able to spend whatever time we wanted wherever we went and never, ever felt rushed.

Saed, our driver in Cairo was an exceptional driver. His calm and very funny nature kept us entertained throughout our trip.

I know we made very good friends with our companions from Memphis Tours. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip because they made it everything we wanted it to be, we saw everything we wanted to see, and they made us feel at home, sharing with us their hopes and dreams, as well. They were exceptionally kind and caring people, who were filled with hope and enthusiasm for Egypt's future. A pretty good combination, I'd say.

Our accommodations everywhere were exceptional. While in Giza, we enjoyed the sumptuous beauty and sheer elegance of the Mena House Oberoi for 2 nights. In Luxor, we stayed at the Sheraton Luxor. It was beautiful and our Nile View room was to die for. On our return to Cairo, the Movenpick Pyramids proved to be a lovely, cool oasis after a hot day of touring.

The only hiccup was that Memphis Tours got our room choices wrong but both the Mena House and the Sheraton fixed that immediately by upgrading us on the spot to our first choices. Memphis Tours responded promptly on both occasions and were prepared to fix things immediately, if the hotels had not already done so. So, no complaints.

I highly recommend this company to anyone planning a trip or excursion. They're the best!

I left loving Egypt
vmac46, 6/22/11
Two couples traveling Egypt for the first time. I booked on line, crossing my fingers I picked a good company to show us Egypt. Well they did not disappoint. We visited Cairo, Dashur, Saqqara and Memphis during our two day stay. We stayed overnight at the Oberio Palace (Mena House) Hotel as booked by Memphis Tours. Stunning Hotel with loads of history, very nice hotel and the staff were top notch. We had a view of the Pyramids of Giza from our balcony...Awesome. They also have the best potato curry I have ever had! It was a vacation to remember. Our tour guide -Mohamed Abdel Salam was a wealth of information. He is very passionate about his country and it shows. Thanks Mohamed, and thank you to Abdo Younis for helping me plan this holiday as well as Hussien who picked us up and brought us to Cairo and returned us safely. Our vacation booked with Memphis Tours exceeded our expectations. We look forward to seeing Luxor in the future with Memphis Tours and the great people who work there. We hope they continue to show their beautiful country to the world. Cheers to all of you from a bunch of happy Canadians.

Had a wonderful time
niks, 6/8/11

I and my friend booked a 2-day tour of Cairo and Luxor with Memphis Tours. We had such a great time there although the heat was terrible. Our special thanks go to our super-informed and friendly guides, Amr and John. Amr was our guide in Cairo and we were extremely pleased that he was very informed and a pleasure to talk to. Also, John, our guide to Luxor, was an encyclopedia of information, there was nothing we asked that he was unable to answer. We promised them we'd write a review just to let everyone know that it is safe to travel in Egypt and they are waiting for tourists with open arms because they pretty much depend on our support to relaunch their economy, badly shaken by the recent events.

Just returned from a 5 days Cairo_Luxor with Memphis tour. Everything was just what we were expecting. The sites in Cairo & Luxor were fascinating. We enjoyed our trip with Memphis tour very much. From the booking process to the time we were there thoughout the tour, everybody were very friendy & professional. Accomodations, vehicles, drivers, tour representatives, Egyptologists were all very nice, especcially Mr. Ahmed Fayez who arranged the tour for us. Memphis tour did a great job ! Highly recommended .

Wonderful efficient and attentive service!
storeyanne, 1/29/11
We had a wonderful few days in Egypt managing a stress free stay encompassing Cairo/Giza the pyramids, museum, Islamic & Coptic Cairo, and a day in Luxor. I am sure we couldn't have done everything we did without the wonderful organisation of Mohamed and our wonderful Cairo guide Nasreen. Our Cairo driver Mustafa did a wonderful job in the incredibly hectic conditions of this amazing city, I am a very nervous passenger but his quiet confidence and patience meant that I didn't panic once! For our whole stay we felt very safe and well looked after. As other reviewers have indicated we were escorted to airports, into hotels and at all the attractions for an extremely competitive price.

As I wrtie this Egypt is in a time of turmoil which I hope will soon come to an end. Our thoughts are with all the great staff at Memphis tours and we hope that they will stay safe and things will soon settle so many more travellers can enjoy the professional services of this Egyptian tour company.

“Terrific and flexible tour company”
TraveloverLosAngeles, 12/31/10
Memphis Tours provideda wonderful experience for our trip to Cairo and Luxor. We normally travel fully independently, but wisely decided to engage day guides in Cairo and Luxor. We had a total of 6 days in the two cities. Memphis was particularly good about accommodating our choices of places to visit rather than following any of their suggested itineraries. Our guide in Luxor, John was particularly outstanding. He was very knowledgeable, fully fluent in English, interesting and very personable. He packed a great deal of fun and knowledge about ancient and modern Egypt into a very short time. The guide and driver who took us to an obscure portion of the grand bazaar in Cairo did a particularly outstanding job negotiating the insanity of the roads and the bazaar. We hope to return to Egypt and will definitely engage Memphis Tours.

Memphis Tours are fantastic, we booked on the Internet before our Holiday and everything was wonderful, we were collected from our Hotel in Luxor and taken by minibus to the airport for a flight to Cairo, the flight was fantastic. On our arrival in Cairo , we were met straight away and taken personally to our minibus driver, Hamedy Mahmoud, who was a wonderful driver and kept us all safe on the very crazy roads of Cairo,We truly saw Wonderful things, thanks especially to Mahmoud Abdel Ghany, who was the most wonderful guide in the world, he was so informative and patient, he even took us to the most fantastic restaurant for lunch with a view of the pyramids, you could nearly touch them, please please book up with Memphis Tours for your holiday excursions, you too will have the most wonderful day of your lives !

“Memphis Tours is an AMAZING company!!!!!”
MandiKay, 6/3/10
I was in Hurghada Egypt for my 30th birthday and booked a tour for Cairo and Luxor through Memphis Tours. Not only did they help make the trip something I will never forget, I gained a friend for life! We had a private tour through Cairo and when there was a mix up they worked immediately to fix it and even threw in a little extra for our troubles! We were escorted through the airport on the way to Cairo as well as from Cairo to Luxor. Hamdi met us in Luxor and after our private tour there he rode with us on the way back to Hurghada. Hamdi and the rest of the guides went out of their way to make sure my friend and I had a wonderful and memorable birthday experience! I would recommend this company for any tour they offer, they are wonderful people who are intent on making sure their customers get absolutely everything they can imagine!

Very Efficient, Friendly and Expert Guidance
costas-gr, 4/27/10
I would like to note the excellent activity of your guide Ms Eman for the tours we booked in Luxor.

She has guided us very efficiently, accurately and successfully.

Under her guidance and support, the tours were truly enjoyable with her providing detailed good information and establishing a good and friendly contact with our family.

We highly recommend her for the most demanding of such activities and would specifically ask for her when we return back to Egypt in the near future.

Memphis Tours just need to keep this up!

“Fantastic service for disabled traveller to Egypt & Jordan”
egypt1209, 1/5/10
As a party of 6, with one wheelchair bound member, we contacted Methis Tours to arrange 3 trips (Petra, Cairo & Luxor) from our Red Sea cruise in December 2009. Ahmed responded very promptly outlining individual taliored and competitively priced tours that were suitable for our wheelchair friend. Prior to departure we had regular communication to ensure everything was suitably organised and Ahmed contacted us unprompted to confirm all details just before departure. The trips to Cairo and Luxor were exceptional with the guide, driver and Egyptologist being really friendly and couldn't be more helpful, informative and flexible, discussing options around the trip itinery . They also removed the front seats in the minibus and provided a ramp to make access for Mike in his wheelchair as easy as possible. Also as promised, the room for our over night stay in Luxor was disabled/wheelchair accessible. Prior to the trip we were concerned over what Mike would be able to do but with the help of Mephis staff and an abled bodied friend Mike was able to do virtually everything, except for one steep tomb in the valley of the kings. Mephis helped to make it a really fantastic holiday and a dream come true. I cannot praise Mephis and Ahmed enough and would highly recommend them.
